Love this video shot by Yerblues over @ Vimeo. The HD gallery shot with Canon HV20s & 30s is a joy to go through. Even the bad stuff at least LOOKS good. I honestly haven’t been into action figures for quite some time. I find most of them unfulfilling and useless, but after entering cubicle land, I’ve come to find they’re absolutely a necessary part of getting through the work day. These upcoming Halo action figures from Todd McFarlane simply look awesome. I’ve always been a fan of McFarlane’s, mostly since he seemed like the first one to offer cool looking action figures, the kind you’d have to import from Japan, and make them mass market.

I’m really looking forward to these, and they’re probably not going to be all that plentiful, or cheap. The other bummer is some of the exclusivity clauses make Wal-Mart the sole providers for several of the action figures, along with “specialty stores” which pretty much means big gaming conglomerates like GameStop and EB Games. For some reason they’re also not coming out until 2008. God only knows why it takes that long to mold that much plastic.

I am a big fan of this summerboard theme called PlainJane. It’s so simple and beautiful. It may be cutting my battery life down by like an hour a day, but it’s totally worth it just for its contrastacular style.

If you have an iPhone and haven’t hacked it yet you’re totally missing out. It’s a ton of fun to play with, at least until the SDK comes out in February.

In case you’re wondering what that is. It’s a link to one of my side projects, Halolcats.com (seriously–go there right now, you won’t regret it!) And it’s on the front page news section of Bungie.net…which just happens to be the official page from the devs that made the awesomeness that is the Halo series for the XBOX and XBOX 360.

I was also stoked to discover that the super special extra bonus disc in my Legendary copy of Halo 3 has an awesome compendium of cinematics from the first two games which you can watch in order, or by chapter. For the lazy among you, this is pretty much the best possible way to refresh your memory before heading into the third game.

A wonderful assortment of odd Halloween gear @ Target

October is my favorite month of the year. Not only because it’s my birthday month, but it’s also chocked full of holiday goodness, including Halloween, which is the best time of year to stock up on cheap candy and kitsh. In Target today, the place was absolutely overrun with Halloween junk. I snapped some quick spy shots of my favorites from my iPhone.

Food and Drink

These eyeballs look great, and are sure to scare the shit out of unsuspecting mothers everywhere. Equally creepy, and pictured to the right, are the candy finger suckers, which are strange, and have a wonderfully discomforting fleshtone no lollipop should have.

I’ve never been a big fan of Jones, particularly because I started drinking it in college at our partially subsidized local eatery. There’s just something off about it, and despite the cool user-generated packaging, I find myself steering clear of its strange flavors and curious 4-packs that I think only Chimay and 18 oz. beer cans should come in.

Children’s Costumes

Okay, first off, what the fuck is this? Secondly, how creepy does it look on this kid? I don’t even know what gender this child is, or if that’s really its face or real appendages. Also worth noting is how the hands are two different skin colors and that the overalls appear to be made out of flesh.

I have no comments about these Yoda costumes, besides the fact they decided to throw a really mad looking Darth Vader on there just for the hell of it. I’m also pissed they didn’t have this when I was a toddler, because I think I’d wear it for more than just Halloween. Like the other 364days of the year.

This is really the piece de la resistance of the entire bunch. This apparently fits somewhere between the “I’m a patriot” and “The Disney Channel told me what rainbow parties are.” I don’t know what’s more disgusting, the fishnet undershirt, or the bikini tie off near the top. You don’t even want to see the “Afghanistan Diva” which was further down the aisle.*

*-not at all true.

Yep. That’s mine. And yep, that’s T-mobile you see up there in the carrier area. As a colleague of mine said today “Well, enjoy it for the week or so before they figure out how to lock your shit down.” Until then, I’m loving this thing.
